Fearlessness

Rick Warren writes:

” There is no one on Earth at this time that does what is right all the time and never makes a mistake.

Ecclesiastes 7:20

In America, failure is almost the unpardonable sin. We idolize success. But that kind of pressure creates major stress on people. The fear of failure has many different faces. It can cause you to Be indecisive, a workaholic, a perfectionist and cling to saftey. Because we are afraid to fail, we shun all kinds of risks. For many of us, that fear has an iron grip on our hearts. Even some of the best and brightest people in the world are most impacted by fear of failure.”

I knew someone once that did not let fear grip him. He lived everyday like it was his last. And went after things as if it was already his. He had the right mind set. Why don’t we go after thing as though they are already ours. And anything left in our wake, well that’s the way it was met to be.

This person since passed away but left such an impact on the one’s who new him and a even stronger impact on the one’s who knew him from afar. I always say why is it the special people who always are the first to go. I realize now it is because the rest of us still have much to learn.

But his legacy lives on in the lesson of not letting fear cripple you, but let it push you forward. Or better yet let it not exist in you so much. A little fear is healthy. It keeps you grounded and humble. It’s the fear that keeps you from living a well lived life that needs to be checked.

I had a discussion with a co-worker about mistakes. She said to me ” it’s the one’s who make the mistakes that are really doing the work.” Mistakes don’t have to be a bad thing necessarily. If we learn from them, and choose to do better. It’s the doing better that counts. Remember the old saying?… if at first you don’t succeed try, try again… We cannot let our mistakes paralyze us. We can’t let our fear paralyze us.

But let our fears provoke us to be unstoppable.
