Feeling Raw

It is at times like these that it is ok to feel what you are feeling.

I don’t think the magnitude of what is going on in the world at this time is really comprehensible if you are some what removed from it. It has touched us all in one way or another. But the reality of a pandemic is mind blowing.

We all read the news and see the head lines . It has a way of effecting you deep inside, some times we feel unproductive and unmotivated. It could even be sadness, that we mistake for lack of motivation.

Whatever the feeling, it’s ok to feel it. To acknowledge it, and even appreciate it for being there because after all we are human. Connection is apart of being human, so when that is taken away it is no wonder why lethargy kicks in.

I have gone thru many states of being since the beginning of this epidemic covid 19.

I have been in shock maybe denial, disbelief. I have been anxious and afraid. Now, I have been in a functioning state of meloncoly. I had to stop watching the news for a while. Truthfully I haven’t willfully looked at the news for quite some time. Family and friends have been keeping me updated.

If stepping away from the news for sometime is what you need to do that’s is ok too. I have friends that in staying informed, it makes them feel more in control. So, if that is you or what you have to do to stay sane then do it.

I just know that many of us have some pretty raw feelings right now. Write them down, tell a friend or trusted professional. Express how you are feeling. It’s better to get them out the bottle them up or push them down.

Sometimes we don’t know what we are feeling . To that I say get super quiet go inward and listen to your thoughts. Introsepcting is a nessesary thing. Listen to yourself, you only know what’s best for you. So if you need to sleep in or take it down a notch do so. It’s best to deal with our feelings, then to let them become something we will regret.

I had been absent from this platform for sometime, for lack of dealing with my emotions and the things I was feeling. I have been running away from them for a long time allowing escapism to be my consolation. The down side to that is, it didn’t strengthen me to be able to face the problem causing the need to escape. Actually I wasted alot of time, I will never get back.

But, I cannot beat myself up about the past in fact if that’s what I needed at that time I should honor that.

We will be dealing with alot in the coming months maybe even the remainder of this year. Things won’t just bounce back to completely to normal again. I dont think so at least. We might have to learn to adapt to a new normal.

But, when we do let acceptance be the focus. It is ,what it is. We can do our part by being safe and staying indoors. If that’s all we can do that’s doing more then you know.

  1. Wow. I have not been on here for a little while. I must say reading that hit every point. Couldn’t relate to you more. I’m sure other can also relate. It’s very crazy yet fragile times. Thanks for sharing your post, something i definitely needed. 🙏
